In today’s day and age, no one needs a lesson on taking photos while on vacation. Just look on Instagram or Facebook, and you’ll see plenty of photos of people’s adventures. Whether using a phone or a DSLR camera, there are a few things to keep in mind:
If you do decide to take your DSLR camera, make sure you have a good carrying case or bag. Keep that bag close to you and guard it like you would your passport. Camera insurance is also a good idea. Just in case.
Make sure, before you go on your trip that you connect your phone (or camera if it has that capability) to an online cloud storage site. Some examples are: iCloud, Box, Google Drive or Google Photos, and Dropbox. Taking time to do this before you leave will ensure that you don’t end up losing precious memories if something should happen to your phone on the trip.
Another great idea is to take photos of your travel documents, passports, tickets, boarding passes, etc and upload those to your online storage. Having a backup in always a good idea in case the awful happens. This also makes them accessible to you from anywhere. And, if nothing else, when you need to fill in any forms that require your passport number, you don’t have to go digging through your luggage to find your passport, you have a picture of it right there on your phone. Easy!
