Choosing Your Destination (or not!)

The World is Yours to Conquer

Where do you want to go?

That’s the million dollar question.

This is more than just choosing your destination. What do I mean? Well, I have noticed that a lot of travelers, particularly those who are looking at cruise lines have certain expectations, as most of us do when we travel. In choosing your destination and itinerary, you want to make sure that both can meet those expectations. You could have a beautiful trip but, if it wasn’t up to your expectations, then you end up disappointed…and that isn’t good for you or your travel consultant!

Why You NEED TSA Precheck!

TSA Precheck

When it comes to ease of travel in an airport, nothing has helped me more than TSA Precheck!

It’s hard to explain just how much this has helped me in my travels. I don’t do well in crowds and am not happy in an airport, so the TSA precheck has been a lifesaver for me.  This is especially true because I don’t deal well with the TSA.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against anyone who works for the TSA. 90% of them are decent, smiling folks, who are just doing their job to the best of their ability.

However, the whole process of passing through all of that security creates a lot of discomfort and anxiety for me.  So, doing the precheck has made an amazing difference in my travel experience.  Especially as often as I’m in the airport!

While traveling with friends who didn’t have it, I’ve seen as much as a 45-50 minute difference between my ability to get through security and get to the gate (with coffee in hand, of course), with what they’ve experienced. My stress level is so greatly reduced, that I cannot recommend the precheck enough, especially if you travel by plane more than a few times per year. It’s just a great opportunity to reduce your stress while traveling and is worth every cent.

What Precheck Does For You:

For a fee of $85.00 for 5 years, the TSA Precheck allows you to pass through security at the airport without having to remove your shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets.

TSA Precheck members wait 5 minutes or less in security lines!

How It Works:

  1. You can apply online:  Apply Here
  2. You will need to make an appointment to have a background check. The appointment only takes about 10 minutes.
  3. Once you’re approved, you’ll have a Known Traveler Number that you will add to your ticket and then skip those long lines!

My Experience with TSA:

Some years ago, I was flying into Washington D.C.  There was a security breach in the airport and, as a result, an entire terminal had to be emptied!  By the time we arrived, the situation had been resolved, but the gates were tremendously backed up. We couldn’t even see the end of the line of people going through security in the area we were in. Thankfully, we had precheck.  It only took our group 7 minutes to get from the entrance of the security area to Starbucks on the other side, where we were able to get our coffee.

Many people struggled that day to make their flights on time, and I assume some probably didn’t. But our group all had precheck, and we were all able to make it through without any delays, hassles or headaches!

Tips like these and my experience with travel is why I decided to pass my knowledge on to you!

Why Travel?

Signs

Travel is an experience.

There are many different reasons people travel.  Some people travel to visit family and friends and maybe they never travel for any other reason.

Others travel because they want new experiences, new ideas, to taste new foods or to see new things.

Regardless of the reason you travel, honestly the most important thing is the experience itself. There is nothing like flipping through the pages of your memory and remembering the highlights.

When I think back on my travels, some of the things that stand out are:

  • My first sight of the Pacific Islands, like Bora Bora.
  • Standing at the foot of the Swiss Alps, in the rain, looking up, just the sheer awe of it all.
  • Flying over the mountains of Chile’.
  • Standing on the cliffs in Peru.

Aside from the beauty that I’ve seen on my travels, one thing that made a big impression on me was the people I’ve met. Whenever I think about the people, there are always stories to go along with those memories, like making new friends in the Falklands and Barcelona.

Especially when I think of Barcelona, I remember it as a city of beautiful people, always smiling and so kind. I remember being there, walking in the city and feeling safe and at peace.

If you take the time to get to know even just a couple of the people you meet when you take a trip, you’ll really get to know more about the area you’re in.  The locals have stories you can’t find anywhere else.  They’ve got the inside knowledge of where they live, and can take you off the beaten path and help you discover something you may never have seen otherwise.

On the other end of the spectrum, there’s the excitement of taking a cab in Rome or even just crossing the street in Rome for the first time.

Travel, regardless of the reason is an experience. Whether it’s the sights, sounds, tastes, smells or the people that you meet. The experience of travel is amazing. There’s nothing quite like it. And everyone should have the opportunity to experience those highlights in every trip.
